New colors join crappie lineup for 2010

Managing colors is a difficult task for any soft plastic bait company. On one side are anglers screaming for new combinations that will be “the best fish catchers ever.” On the other are tackle shops hollering about already having too many options for their bait selections.

The Bobby Garland® crappie bait line is one company that takes great pride in keeping color offerings in check. For 2010, only a select few new additions have been made to its highly popular Baby Shad, Slab Slay’R and Stroll’R product families.

Joining the color chart for the 2” Baby Shad are Albino Shad and Monkey Milk.

Albino Shad is a laminate, meaning the top half of the bait from head to tail is one color and the bottom half is another. Its topside color is a pale lavender and the belly is a reflective pearl.

Monkey Milk is a “solid” color, meaning it is the same color from head to tail and top to bottom. Monkey Milk is a relatively clear color with an iridescent blue “shad-like” sheen to its appearance and with small black metalflake scattered throughout.

Blue Ice is the only new color addition to the 2” and 3” Slab Slay’R, and to the 2.5” Stroll’R. The color was already in the Baby Shad line and it was arguably the hottest selling color in 2009.

Blue Ice is a two-color combo. One of the colors is a transparent light blue with elongated Alpha Jewels holographic prismatic flake in it. The other color is a reflective pearl.

In the Baby Shad and Stroll’R body styles, Blue Ice is a laminate in which the back is the blue and the belly is pearl. In the Slab Slay’R body style, Blue Ice is a head/tail color, with the bait’s head (body) being blue and the tail is pearl.

All three of the new colors are ideal for clear to lightly stained waters and for all seasons.
